What does OUR do?

Introduction/Overview
Many undergraduate students are unaware of the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) and the opportunities it offers. This motion graphic video aims to clarify what OUR does and highlight the best aspects of its research program. A common misconception is that research is only for STEM majors, but OUR programs are also open to art and film students.

Step-by-Step Workflow
1. Research & Planning
I engaged with colleagues in the office to gain a deep understanding of what OUR actually does.
2. Concept Development
I developed a step-by-step guide, starting with drafting a script that clearly and concisely explained the process, including key points to highlight.
3. Script Feedback
I sought feedback from colleagues and office managers to ensure the script was accurate and clear, refining it based on their input.
4. Voiceover Recording
Once the script was finalized, I recorded the voiceover, ensuring a friendly and approachable tone that would resonate with the target audience.
5. Creation
Using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects, I designed the graphics, animated the sequences, and synced them with the voiceover to create an engaging and informative video.
6. Feedback & Revisions
After completing the initial version, I gathered feedback from the office, making revisions to enhance clarity, pacing, and visual appeal.
7. Final Delivery
The finished video was published on the office’s website and YouTube channel, providing students with an accessible guide to applying for undergraduate research opportunities.

Challenges & Solutions
Since this was my first project after joining OUR, it took time to fully understand the office’s role and functions. To overcome this, I spent extra time consulting with colleagues, attending meetings, and reviewing existing materials to ensure I had a comprehensive understanding. I also asked for frequent feedback throughout the project to make sure I was on the right track.
